How to Draw a Long Jump
Draw a long jump in 14 easy steps, about 11 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: egg head.
Step 1: Egg head
On the upper left of your paper draw an egg head, tipped forward a little.
Tip Leave lots of room on the right for the legs, and below for the sand.
Step 2: The face
On the right half of the head draw 2 oval eyes with black dots. Add a big smile under them.
Tip The face sits to the right because the jumper is flying that way.
Step 3: Short hair
Start above the right eye. Draw hair over the top and down the back, then a fringe line back.
Tip Rub out the head line inside the hair.
Step 4: Neck and body
Draw a short neck. Under it draw a bean body that leans forward, with a round chest.
Tip The body leans the same way as the head.
Step 5: Shorts
At the bottom of the body draw round shorts with 2 short legs pointing to the right.
Step 6: Reaching legs
From the shorts draw a leg reaching forward, bending down at the knee. Draw the other leg just below it.
Tip Legs are wide at the top and thin at the ankle.
Step 7: Two shoes
On the end of each leg draw a round shoe with its toe pointing up.
Tip The heels lead the way.
Step 8: Front arm
From the shoulder draw an arm reaching forward to a mitten hand. Add a sleeve line from edge to edge.
Tip Bend the arm a little at the elbow and give the mitten a thumb. Rub out the body line inside the arm.
Step 9: Other arm
Draw the other arm reaching up and forward from behind the chest. Add a sleeve line from edge to edge.
Step 10: Ground and board
Draw a ground line from the left edge to the right. Sit a flat board on its left end.
Tip The jumper took off from this board.
Step 11: Sand pit
On the right draw a long low heap of sand on the ground. Add a puff cloud on top.
Tip The puff sits near the shoes, where the jumper will land.
Step 12: Peach skin, pink cheek
Colour a pink cheek. Colour the face, neck, arms, hands and legs peach. Leave the eyes white.
Step 13: Sandy pit, red top
Colour the sand and the puff sandy yellow. Colour the top, both sleeves and both shoes red.
Step 14: Navy shorts, ginger hair
Colour the shorts navy and the hair ginger. Leave the board white. Your long jump is done!
