How to Draw a Pickaxe
Draw a pickaxe in 11 easy steps, about 8 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the head.
Step 1: The head
Near the top draw the pickaxe head: a thick middle with a long thin point curving down each side.
Tip Leave most of the page below for the handle and a rock.
Step 2: Two big eyes
In the thick middle of the head draw 2 big egg eyes. Colour a big black dot in each.
Step 3: Smile and cheeks
Under the eyes draw a U smile from eye to eye, and a small oval cheek beside each end.
Step 4: The collar
Under the middle of the head draw a small box collar, where the handle goes in.
Step 5: The handle
From under the collar draw a long line down, across, and back up to the collar.
Step 6: Wood grain
On the handle draw 2 short lines going down, one near the top and one near the bottom.
Step 7: The ground
Draw a ground line under the handle, from the left side across to the right side.
Step 8: A little rock
On the right, start on the ground and draw a small round rock up, over and down to the ground.
Step 9: Pink cheeks
Go over your lines, then colour the cheeks pink.
Step 10: Grey rock and collar
Colour the rock and the collar grey.
Step 11: Slate head, wood handle
Colour the head slate around the cheeks, leaving the eyes white, and the handle wood brown. Ready to dig!
