How to Draw Scissors

10 steps · Medium · about 8 min

Draw scissors in 10 easy steps, about 8 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.

Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: left blade.

Print

  1. Step 1: Left blade

Below the middle of your paper imagine a dot. From it draw a long thin blade slanting up-left.

Tip The blade is about 4 times longer than wide.

  2. Step 2: Right blade

Draw the same blade slanting up to the right, crossing at the dot, so they make a big V.

  3. Step 3: The screw

Where the blades cross draw a small round circle for the screw.

  4. Step 4: Left handle

Start at the screw. Draw 2 short lines slanting down left and end in a big tilted oval ring.

  5. Step 5: Right handle

Start at the screw. Draw 2 short lines slanting down right and end in a big tilted oval ring.

  6. Step 6: Finger holes

Inside each ring draw a smaller oval, leaving a thick rim all round.

  7. Step 7: Shine lines

On each blade start near the tip. Draw one light line down the middle and stop near the screw.

  8. Step 8: Sparkles

Draw a sparkle star on each side of the scissors.

  9. Step 9: Yellow stars, red handles

Colour the stars yellow, and the handles and rings red, leaving the holes white.

  10. Step 10: Grey blades

Colour both blades and the screw grey. Your scissors are done!
