How to Draw a Chess Queen
Draw a chess queen in 12 easy steps, about 9 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the queen.
Step 1: The queen
In the middle, draw the tall queen in one outline: ball head, narrow waist, collar, thin stem and wide base.
Tip Like a tall vase with a head on it.
Step 2: Two eyes
On the ball head, draw 2 big round eyes a finger apart, with a big black dot in each.
Step 3: Smile and cheeks
Under the eyes, draw a wide U smile from eye to eye. Add a small oval cheek beside each end.
Step 4: The crown
Draw a thin band on the head. On it, draw 3 crown points, the middle tallest, each with a ball.
Step 5: Collar lines
Across the collar, draw 2 curved lines, one at its top and one at its bottom, edge to edge.
Step 6: Base lines
Across the wide base, draw 2 gently curved lines the same way, one above the other.
Step 7: A little pawn
To the right, draw a small pawn: a round head on a body that widens to a flat base.
Step 8: Board line
Start at the left edge and draw a straight line under the pieces to the right edge.
Step 9: Sparkles
Draw 3 sparkle stars around the queen, like plus signs with curvy dips.
Step 10: Cream queen
Colour the queen cream, going around the eyes and cheeks. Leave the eyes white.
Step 11: Yellow crown, pink cheeks
Colour the crown, its band and three balls and the sparkles yellow. Colour the cheeks pink.
Step 12: Slate pawn
Colour the pawn slate grey. Go over your lines and your chess queen is done!
