How to Draw a Piano
Draw a piano in 12 steps, about 9 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the tall case.
Step 1: The tall case
Left of the middle, draw a tall standing box like a wardrobe. Let each side puff out a tiny bit.
Tip Draw it big, taller than your hand.
Step 2: Lid and lip
On top draw a thick lid with a low hump, poking out past both sides. Add a line across it.
Step 3: The keyboard shelf
Below the middle of the case draw a long flat shelf, wider than the case. Add a thin box inside.
Step 4: White keys
Start on top of the key box, draw a line down to the bottom edge. Draw 4 more each side.
Tip Count: middle, then 4 right, 4 left.
Step 5: Black keys
Hang 7 fat keys from the top of the white keys: two, skip one, three, skip one, two.
Tip You colour them black at the end.
Step 6: Music desk
On the shelf draw a thin bar. Start on the bar, draw a page up, across, and down to it.
Step 7: Base, feet and ground
Draw a thin bar under the case, a block foot under each end, and a ground line under them.
Step 8: Pedals
Between the feet draw a low board down to the ground. Near its bottom draw 3 fat pedals.
Step 9: Music on the page
Inside the page draw 3 wavy lines across. Start near the left edge and stop near the right edge.
Step 10: Notes in the air
Right of the lid draw 2 little eggs. Start on each egg, draw a stem up, stop. Join the tops.
Step 11: Lid and brass
Colour the lid a lighter tan and the 3 pedals brass yellow.
Step 12: Brown and black
Colour the rest of the piano brown, around the keys, page and pedals. Colour the black keys and notes black.
Tip Press lightly, like wood grain. Then go over your lines and play a tune!
