How to Draw a Grand Piano

18 steps · Tricky · about 14 min

Draw a grand piano in 18 steps, about 14 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.

Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the piano top.

Print

  1. Step 1: The piano top

Draw a long flat wing: a slanted left edge, a straight back, a round tail and a curvy front edge.

Tip You are looking at the top of the piano from a little above.

  2. Step 2: The curvy side

Start at the bottom corner of the wing. Draw down, along under it, and stop up at the tail.

  3. Step 3: Two big eyes

On the curvy side, draw 2 big oval eyes. Add a black dot and a white shine in each.

  4. Step 4: Smile and cheeks

Under the eyes draw a small U smile, and a little oval cheek under each eye.

  5. Step 5: The front end

Start at the left corner of the wing. Draw down, then across, and stop at the bottom of the side.

  6. Step 6: The keyboard

Just under the slanted edge, draw a long thin slanted box for the keyboard.

  7. Step 7: White keys

Start at the top of the keyboard and draw 6 short lines straight down to its bottom.

  8. Step 8: Black keys

Hang 5 short fat keys from the top of the keyboard: a group of 2, then a group of 3.

Tip You colour them black at the end.

  9. Step 9: The open lid

Start at the left corner. Draw a line up, across the top, round the end and down to the back.

Tip The lid lifts up from the straight back edge, like a big wing.

  10. Step 10: The prop stick

Start on the front edge of the wing. Draw a straight stick up and stop at the lid's edge.

  11. Step 11: Three legs on wheels

Under the piano draw 3 long legs, thinner at the bottom. Add a little wheel under each leg.

  12. Step 12: Music notes

Draw 3 little music notes floating in the air, away from the piano.

  13. Step 13: The floor

Start left of the piano and draw a long floor line under the wheels, stopping past the tail.

  14. Step 14: Yellow inside

Colour the inside of the piano top yellow.

  15. Step 15: Pink cheeks

Colour the 2 cheeks pink. Leave the eyes white.

  16. Step 16: Wood brown piano

Colour the side, the front end and the legs wood brown, around the eyes, cheeks and white keys.

  17. Step 17: Dark brown lid

    Colour the lid dark brown.

  18. Step 18: Black keys and notes

Colour the black keys, the wheels and the notes black. Your grand piano is ready to play!
