How to Draw a Person Writing
Draw a person writing in 13 easy steps, about 10 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the head.
Step 1: The head
Near the top, in the middle, draw an egg for the head, a little narrower at the chin.
Tip Leave the middle of the page for the desk and the arms.
Step 2: The face
Across the middle, draw 2 big round eyes with black dots and shines. Add a tiny nose, smile and eyebrows.
Step 3: Soft hair cap
Start on the left of the head, by the eyebrows. Draw soft tufts over the head, down to the right.
Step 4: Neck and T-shirt
Draw 2 short neck lines. From the left one, draw a T-shirt with short sleeves, stopping at the right one.
Step 5: The desk
Across the middle, in front of the shirt, draw a long flat desk top. Add a thinner box under it.
Tip The desk hides the bottom of the shirt. Rub out the shirt behind it.
Step 6: Arms on the desk
From each sleeve, draw a bent arm: down to the elbow on the desk, then in, stopping at the wrist.
Step 7: Sheet of paper
Between the arms, draw a sheet of paper on the desk, corners under the wrists. Add 2 short writing lines.
Step 8: Hands
At the end of each arm, draw a mitten hand pointing in, with a little thumb bump on top.
Step 9: Pencil
Through the right hand, draw a pencil slanting up right from a sharp point on the paper.
Step 10: Legs and ground
From the desk ends, draw legs down to a ground line. Add the person's legs, thin at ankles, and shoes.
Step 11: Peach skin, pink cheeks
Colour the face, neck, arms and hands peach, with pink cheeks. Keep the eyes white. Go over your lines!
Step 12: Yellow pencil, blue trousers
Colour the pencil yellow, leaving the point and eraser white. Colour the legs blue for trousers.
Step 13: Green shirt, brown desk
Colour the T-shirt green, and the hair, the desk, its legs and the shoes brown.
