How to Draw a Person Talking
Draw a person talking in 13 easy steps, about 10 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: head and ears.
Step 1: Head and ears
Near the top draw an egg head. Add a C ear on each side, starting and stopping on the head.
Tip Leave room on the right for a speech bubble.
Step 2: A talking face
Draw 2 big eyes with dots and shines, a U nose and 2 eyebrows. Add an open mouth.
Tip The open mouth has a flat top and a round bottom.
Step 3: Tufty hair
Start above the left ear. Draw round tufts over the top, stop above the right ear. Add a hairline curve.
Tip Soft round bumps, the middle ones tallest.
Step 4: Neck and T-shirt
Draw 2 neck lines under the chin. From the left one, draw a short-sleeved T-shirt ending at the right one.
Step 5: Arms
From each sleeve draw an arm down to the wrist. The left hangs, the right bends out at the elbow.
Tip Both arms get thinner toward the wrist. The right one bends at the elbow.
Step 6: Hands
From one side of each wrist draw a round mitten with a thumb. Stop at the other side.
Step 7: Speech bubble
Beside the head draw a big oval. Add a pointed tail at the bottom left, pointing at the mouth.
Tip Keep the tail off the ear.
Step 8: Words
Inside the bubble draw 3 straight lines for the words, the last one shorter.
Step 9: Trousers
From the T-shirt's left corner draw 2 long trouser legs with a gap between. Stop at the right corner.
Tip Each leg is nearly as wide at the ankle as at the knee.
Step 10: Shoes and ground
Under each leg draw a shoe, toe pointing out, with a curved toe line. Draw a ground line underneath.
Step 11: Peach skin, pink cheeks
Colour 2 pink cheeks and the mouth pink. Colour the skin peach around them. Leave the eyes white.
Step 12: Orange shirt, blue trousers
Colour the T-shirt orange and the trousers blue.
Step 13: Brown hair and shoes
Colour the hair and the shoes brown. Leave the speech bubble white. Your talker is done!
