How to Draw a Persian Cat

12 steps · Medium · about 9 min

Draw a Persian cat in 12 easy steps, about 9 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.

Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the head.

Print

  1. Step 1: The head

Near the top draw a big round head: a smooth dome on top, fluffy bumps round the cheeks and chin.

Tip A Persian is mostly fluff: the cheeks and chin are soft bumps.

  2. Step 2: Small ears

On each top corner of the head draw a small curved ear with a soft point and a triangle inside.

Tip Persian ears are small and round-tipped, half lost in the fluff.

  3. Step 3: Big round eyes

Across the middle draw 2 big round eyes, each with a big black dot and a white shine.

Tip Persians have huge round copper eyes on a flat face.

  4. Step 4: Nose and W smile

Under the eyes draw a small triangle nose. From its point hang a wide W smile.

Tip Both smile curves start at the same spot on the nose point.

  5. Step 5: Round body

From each cheek draw a big C down to the ground and in to the middle for the body.

  6. Step 6: Front legs

From under the chin draw 2 legs down to plump mitten paws. Add a curve across each wrist.

Tip Paws are plump mittens, flat on the ground, with 2 toe lines.

  7. Step 7: Plume tail

From behind the right of the body draw a big fluffy tail sweeping up, bumpy all along its outside.

Tip A Persian tail is a big soft plume, like a feather duster.

  8. Step 8: Back paws

Beside each front paw draw a plump bun back paw, up and over, tucked behind the front paw.

Tip The back paws are smaller and poke out sideways, so the cat really sits.

  9. Step 9: Whiskers

Draw 3 whiskers each side, from beside the nose out across the fluffy cheek, stopping inside the head.

Tip Whiskers grow from beside the nose and poke out through the fluff.

  10. Step 10: The ground

Last, draw a flat ground line under the paws, from the back paw to a little past the tail.

  11. Step 11: Colour the fur cream

Colour the fur cream around the eyes, nose and inner ears. Leave the chest and paws white.

  12. Step 12: Orange eyes, pink nose

Colour the eyes orange around the black dots. Colour the nose and inner ears pink.
