How to Draw a Penguin Swimming
Draw a penguin swimming in 12 easy steps, about 9 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the head.
Step 1: The head
On the left of your paper draw a big egg for the head, a bit wider near the bottom.
Step 2: The white face
Start on the left cheek. Draw a big upside-down U inside the head and stop on the right cheek.
Tip Keep a thumb of black all round it, like a hood.
Step 3: The beak
In the lower half of the white face draw a small rounded triangle for the beak, point down.
Step 4: Two big eyes
Above the beak draw 2 big eggy eyes, a gap apart. Colour a big black dot in each.
Step 5: A little tuft
Start on top of the head. Draw 1 short curved hair sticking up, ending in the air.
Step 6: The swimming body
Start on the right of the head. Draw a long hill right, round the end, back to the cheek.
Tip One smooth curve from neck to tail, like a torpedo. It gets narrower.
Step 7: The tummy
Start on the head below the right cheek. Draw a gentle curve along the lower body, up to the end.
Tip Everything under this line is the white tummy.
Step 8: Two flippers
Start on the back behind the head. Sweep a flipper back to a round tip. Do one under the tummy.
Step 9: Two webbed feet
Start on the far end. Draw a flat paddle foot out, ending in 3 round toes. Draw another just below.
Step 10: Water and bubbles
Draw a wavy line over the penguin, down both sides and along the bottom. Add 3 bubbles.
Step 11: Orange beak, blue water
Colour the beak and feet orange. Colour the water light blue around the penguin and bubbles.
Step 12: Colour it black
Colour the head, the body above the tummy line and both flippers black. Leave the face and tummy white.
