How to Draw a Largemouth Bass
Draw a largemouth bass in 12 easy steps, about 9 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: eye and big mouth.
Step 1: Eye and big mouth
Draw a big eye. From the nose draw an open mouth, stopping below. Join both lip tips with a curve.
Step 2: Torpedo body
Start above the nose. Draw a long rainbow over the eye, down to the thin tail end. Same underneath.
Tip A bass is a torpedo: fattest near the front, thin at the tail.
Step 3: Crescent tail
From the thin tail end draw a tall lobe up and back, then in to the middle. Match below.
Step 4: Spiky back fin
Start on the back behind the eye. Draw 4 zigzag spikes, then a soft hump, and stop near the tail.
Step 5: Gill
Behind the eye draw a tall curve, not touching the back or belly. Join the mouth corner to it.
Step 6: Long side fin
Behind the gill draw a long leaf pointing back toward the tail. Add 2 short rays from its base.
Step 7: Side stripe
Start on the gill, level with the eye. Draw one long line back to the tail. Add a second below.
Step 8: Bubbles
In front of the lips draw 3 bubbles floating up, small to big.
Step 9: Sand and seaweed
Draw a wavy sand line right across the bottom, edge to edge. Stand 3 wiggly seaweed blades on it.
Step 10: Cream belly, sand
Go over your lines. Colour the belly and chin cream, around the side fin, and the sandy floor tan.
Step 11: Pink mouth, green back
Colour the mouth pink. Colour the head, the back and the seaweed light green. Leave the eye white.
Step 12: Dark green stripe
Colour the stripe, the tail and the fins dark green. Your bass is ready to swim!
