How to Draw a Pencil Sharpener
Draw a pencil sharpener in 13 easy steps, about 10 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: sharpener block.
Step 1: Sharpener block
A little right of the middle, draw a box with soft corners, a bit wider than it is tall.
Tip You twist the pencil inside and a blade shaves the wood.
Step 2: Happy face
On the front, draw 2 big egg eyes with black dots. Add a U smile and 2 tiny cheeks.
Step 3: Blade on top
Start on the top edge near the left. Draw a thin flat plate and stop on the top edge.
Step 4: Pencil going in
On the block's left side, draw a small rounded collar. From it, draw a long pencil lying flat, sliding in.
Step 5: Band and eraser
At the pencil's left end, draw a short metal band with a line down it, and a plump eraser.
Step 6: Crank handle
From the blade's right end, draw a short bar out, then a short bar up with a knob on top.
Step 7: Ground and shadow
Draw a ground line under the sharpener and pencil. Add a flat oval shadow under the block.
Step 8: Sparkles
Add a sparkle above the pencil and a small one to the right of the block.
Step 9: Yellow sparkles
Colour the sparkles yellow.
Step 10: Yellow pencil, pink eraser
Colour the pencil yellow and the eraser pink.
Step 11: Grey parts and shadow
Colour the metal band, the collar, the blade, the crank handle and the shadow grey.
Step 12: Pink cheeks
Colour the cheeks pink.
Step 13: Blue sharpener
Colour the block blue, going around the cheeks and leaving the eyes white. Your sharpener is ready!
