How to Draw a Rock
Draw a rock in 11 easy steps, about 8 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the boulder.
Step 1: The boulder
In the middle, draw a big lumpy rock like a potato. Taller on the right, flat on the bottom.
Step 2: Two big eyes
Draw 2 big egg eyes just below the middle of the rock, each with a black dot and white shine.
Step 3: A big smile
Leave a little gap under the eyes. Draw a wide U smile from under one eye to the other.
Step 4: Cracks
Draw 2 short crooked crack lines on the rock: one on the right, one low on the left.
Step 5: A moss cap
Draw a wobbly strip of moss along the top of the rock, with a bumpy bottom edge.
Step 6: The ground
Draw a long ground line along the flat bottom of the rock, from one paper edge to the other.
Step 7: Pebble and grass
On the ground to the right, draw a small flat oval pebble. Add 2 short grass blades beside it.
Step 8: A beetle
Left of the rock, draw a small beetle: fat oval body, round head, 2 feelers, a back line, 2 spots.
Step 9: Pink cheeks
Colour 2 pink cheeks on the rock, under the eyes and beside the smile.
Step 10: Grey rock and pebble
Colour the rock and the pebble grey, around the cheeks and the moss cap. Leave the eyes white.
Step 11: Moss and beetle
Colour the moss green and the beetle red with a black head, and your rock is done!
