How to Draw a Pastry
Draw a pastry in 11 easy steps, about 8 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: top of the pastry.
Step 1: Top of the pastry
Near the middle of your paper, draw a big wide oval for the top of the pastry.
Tip Make it more than half as wide as your paper.
Step 2: The side
From the oval's left end, draw a short puffy curve down, round under it, and up to the right end.
Step 3: Jam in the middle
In the very middle of the top, draw a small flat oval for the jam.
Step 4: The swirl
Start just beside the jam and swirl round and round, getting bigger, until you touch the front edge.
Tip Keep the gap between the rings about the same.
Step 5: Dough end
Start where the swirl touches the edge. Draw a short line straight down the side, stopping at the bottom.
Step 6: The plate
From the pastry's left side, draw a big flat oval round under the pastry and up to its right side.
Step 7: Plate rim
Inside the plate, draw a second curve for the rim, from the pastry's left side to its right side.
Step 8: The table
Draw a table line under the plate from well left to well right, just touching its bottom.
Step 9: Blue plate
Go over your lines, then colour the plate light blue around the pastry.
Step 10: Golden pastry
Colour the pastry tan, top and side, around the jam.
Step 11: Red jam
Colour the jam in the middle red. Your pastry is done!
