How to Draw an Artichoke
Draw an artichoke in 11 easy steps, about 8 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the body.
Step 1: The body
In the middle draw a tall egg as big as your fist, round at the top and bottom.
Step 2: Two big eyes
Low on the egg draw 2 big round eyes. Colour a big black dot in each, leaving a white shine.
Step 3: Smile and cheeks
Under the eyes draw a wide U smile from eye to eye, with a small flat cheek beside each end.
Step 4: Top leaves
On top of the egg draw 3 fat pointy leaves like flames, one in the middle and one each side.
Tip Each leaf is a rounded teardrop with its point up.
Step 5: Second row
Under them draw a row of 4 bigger leaves. The outer 2 start and stop on the egg's edge.
Step 6: Side leaves
Below the outer leaves draw a small leaf on each side, starting and stopping on the egg's edge.
Tip Keep the leaves above the eyes.
Step 7: A little stem
Under the egg draw a short stubby stem: down on the left, across, and back up on the right.
Step 8: The ground
Draw the ground line from the left edge of the paper to the right edge, just touching the bottom.
Step 9: Pink cheeks
Colour the cheeks pink.
Step 10: Pale body
Colour the egg and the stem light green, going around the leaves and cheeks. Leave the eyes white.
Step 11: Green leaves
Go over your lines, then colour all the leaves dark green, and your artichoke is done!
