How to Draw a Parrot Flying
Draw a parrot flying in 10 easy steps, about 8 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the head.
Step 1: The head
Near the top left draw a big round head, with 3 soft low puffs on top toward the back.
Tip Leave room on the right and below. The tuft is 3 gentle hills.
Step 2: Big hooked beak
From the forehead curl a big beak down to a hook. Tuck a small jaw under it, to the chin.
Tip Add a mouth line from the face to the hook. Keep the beak fat, not a long bill.
Step 3: One big eye
A finger behind the beak draw a big round eye. Fill it with a black dot, leaving a white shine.
Step 4: Plump body
Start at the back of the head. Draw an egg body sloping right, round the belly up to the chin.
Tip The body leans like a flying bird: chest under the head, tail end low on the right.
Step 5: Long fan tail
From the rump draw a long fan tail down and back with 3 round feather tips. Add 2 lines.
Tip The 3 feathers spread a little apart, like fingers.
Step 6: Open wing
From the back draw a wing up to a high point, then down in 4 feather bumps to the rump.
Tip The wing grows from the back, not the head. Round bumps, not teeth.
Step 7: A puffy cloud
Near the bottom left draw a little cloud: 3 round puffs on top and a flat bottom.
Tip The cloud floats below and behind the bird, high in the sky.
Step 8: Yellow body, grey beak
Colour the body yellow and the hooked beak grey.
Step 9: Green head, red tail
Colour the head green, leaving the eye and its ring white. Colour the fan tail red.
Step 10: Blue wing
Colour the big wing blue. Leave the cloud white, and your parrot is flying!
