How to Draw a Parasaurolophus
Draw a parasaurolophus in 12 easy steps, about 9 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the head.
Step 1: The head
Start at the back of the head, top left. Go over a dome, out to a duck bill, back under.
Tip A big fat bean lying down. The top slopes gently down to the bill.
Step 2: Big eye
Under the forehead draw a big oval eye with a black dot. Dot a nostril on the bill.
Step 3: Back and fat tail
Start high on the back of the head. Go along a fat tail, round the tip, back to the bottom.
Tip The tail lifts up and gets fatter toward the body.
Step 4: Head tube
From the head top, draw a banana tube out to a round end, and in where the back line starts.
Tip Rub out the head line inside it. It gets a little thinner toward its round end.
Step 5: Duck-bill smile
Start on the front of the bill. Draw a long smile back under the eye, curling up to the cheek.
Tip No teeth. It has a beak like a duck.
Step 6: Chest and tiny arm
From under the jaw, draw a C chest down to the hip. Add a tiny arm out from the chest.
Tip Rub out the neck line. Bend the arm at the elbow and give it 2 little fingers.
Step 7: Big front leg
Start at the chest end. Go down to 3 toes, up the shin, round a fat thigh to the start.
Tip The thigh is a fat drumstick. The toes stand on the ground.
Step 8: Tummy
Start at the back of the thigh. Draw a short saggy curve under the tummy, stopping where the tail ended.
Step 9: Back leg and ground
From behind the thigh, draw a back leg down to 3 toes and up to the tummy. Add the ground.
Step 10: Chest patch
Start under the jaw on the chest. Draw a long curve down inside the chest and stop on the thigh.
Step 11: Cream chest patch
Colour the chest patch cream.
Step 12: Colour it ginger
Colour the dinosaur ginger around the cream patch, and the head tube a darker ginger. Leave the eye white.
