How to Draw a Dachshund Jumping

12 steps · Medium · about 9 min

Draw a dachshund jumping in 12 easy steps, about 9 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.

Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: head and snout.

Print

  1. Step 1: Head and snout

On the left draw a round head that stretches left into a long snout with a round tip.

Tip A long snout is what makes it a dachshund.

  2. Step 2: Flying ears

Draw a long floppy ear flying back from the head. A smaller ear peeks up behind the top.

Tip The ears fly back because the dog is leaping forward.

  3. Step 3: Eyes and nose

Draw 2 oval eyes with black dots and white shines. Add a black nose on the tip of the snout.

  4. Step 4: Happy smile

Start under the nose. Draw a long smile along the snout and stop with a curl at the cheek.

  5. Step 5: Long back

Start behind the head, under the ear. Draw a very long back, curl round the bottom and stop.

Tip The back slopes down a little, because the dog is leaping up.

  6. Step 6: Front leg

From under the chin draw a short leg reaching forward. Bend it into a paw with 2 toe lines.

Tip The leg gets thinner where it bends into the paw.

  7. Step 7: Tummy and back leg

Start at the front leg. Draw the tummy, then a leg kicking back. Stop at the bottom. Add 2 toes.

Tip The back leg bends at the heel, and its paw points backwards.

  8. Step 8: Far legs

Draw 2 more legs peeking out: 1 above the front leg, 1 below the back leg. Add 1 toe each.

  9. Step 9: Thin tail

From the top of the bottom draw a thin tail flying up and back to a round tip.

  10. Step 10: Whoosh lines

Behind the bottom draw 3 short whoosh lines, to show your dachshund flying through the air.

Tip Keep the lines away from the dog, so they do not look like part of it.

  11. Step 11: Ginger coat

Colour the head, body, legs and tail ginger, but not the ears. Leave the eyes white.

  12. Step 12: Brown ears

Colour both flying ears brown. Your jumping dachshund is done!
