How to Draw a Goldenrod
Draw a goldenrod in 10 easy steps, about 8 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the stalk.
Step 1: The stalk
From near the bottom middle, draw a tall thin stalk straight up to the top third, wider at the bottom.
Step 2: The top plume
Over the top of the stalk draw a tall fluffy plume with bumpy edges, like a thin cloud.
Tip Goldenrod flowers are tiny, so we draw them as fluffy bumps.
Step 3: Top branches
Just under the plume, draw a short bumpy branch arching out from the stalk on each side.
Tip Each branch goes up, out, then droops a little at its tip.
Step 4: Middle branches
Below them, draw a longer bumpy branch arching out from the stalk on each side.
Step 5: Bottom branches
Below those, draw the longest bumpy branch arching out on each side, so the flower looks like a fountain.
Step 6: Three leaves
Lower down the stalk draw 3 long pointed leaves: one left, one right, one left.
Tip Each leaf starts on the stalk and points up and out.
Step 7: Ground and grass
Draw a ground line across, under the stalk. Flick up 2 grass blades each side, a little away from it.
Step 8: Yellow top
Go over your lines. Colour the top plume and the 2 top branches golden yellow.
Step 9: Yellow branches
Colour the other 4 bumpy branches golden yellow too.
Step 10: Green to finish
Colour the stalk and the 3 leaves green, and your goldenrod is done!
