How to Draw a Bearberry
Draw a bearberry in 12 easy steps, about 9 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the arching stem.
Step 1: The arching stem
Start at the bottom left. Draw a thick stem curving up and over to the right, thinner at the tip.
Tip It bends like a rainbow that stops halfway.
Step 2: Two low leaves
Low on the stem draw 2 paddle leaves, one each side: thin at the stem, round at the end.
Step 3: Middle leaves
Further up draw 3 more paddle leaves: 1 under the stem and 2 on top.
Step 4: Top leaves
Near the tip draw 1 more leaf on top, then 2 leaves growing out of the very end.
Step 5: Leaf veins
In each leaf draw 1 straight vein from the stem along the middle, stopping before the round end.
Step 6: Berry stalk
Under the arch, start on the stem. Draw a short stalk down that forks into 3 little prongs.
Step 7: Three berries
On the 3 prongs draw 3 round berries in a row, just touching.
Step 8: Two more berries
Below them draw 2 more round berries in the gaps, in front.
Tip Rub out the bits of the top berries inside the front ones.
Step 9: Ground and grass
Draw a ground line from far left to far right, under the stem. Flick up a few grass blades.
Step 10: Green leaves
Go over your lines, then colour all 8 leaves green.
Step 11: Red berries
Colour all 5 berries bright red.
Step 12: Brown stem
Colour the stem brown, and your bearberry is done!
