How to Draw a Newspaper
Draw a newspaper in 13 easy steps, about 10 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the top half.
Step 1: The top half
In the middle draw a big wide box, as wide as your whole hand: the front page, folded in half.
Tip Keep the corners sharp and the sides straight. The bottom edge is the fold.
Step 2: The photo box
In the lower left of the page draw a photo box, leaving a little gap from the left edge.
Step 3: Two big eyes
In the photo box draw 2 big egg eyes, a little gap apart. Colour a big black dot in each.
Step 4: Smile and cheeks
Under the eyes draw a U smile, and a small flat cheek beside each end, inside the photo box.
Step 5: The lower half
From the fold's left end draw the lower half: go down, across, and up to the right end.
Step 6: The headline box
Across the top of the page draw a long flat headline box. Draw a line under it, side to side.
Step 7: Headline words
Inside the headline box draw 3 fat sausages of different lengths, side by side with gaps, for the big words.
Step 8: Columns of writing
Right of the photo draw a stack of evenly spaced lines for writing. Add 3 lines on the half below.
Tip Make the last line of writing shorter.
Step 9: A curling corner
At the bottom right corner of the top page draw the corner curling up, like a little turned-up flap.
Step 10: Sparkles
Add 3 small sparkles in the air near the corners of the paper.
Step 11: Cream paper
Colour the top page and the folded half cream, leaving the headline box, photo, eyes and curled corner white.
Step 12: Pink cheeks, sky photo
Colour the cheeks pink, then colour the photo box sky blue around the face and cheeks.
Step 13: Navy words
Colour the headline words navy, and your newspaper is hot off the press!

Your finished drawing
Follow the steps above and this is where you end up: a newspaper, drawn by you.
