How to Draw an Owlet
Draw an owlet in 12 easy steps, about 9 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the head.
Step 1: The head
Near the top, draw a big sideways egg head: a round dome, fat cheeks and a wide U chin.
Tip No corners anywhere: the cheeks bow out wider than the top.
Step 2: Tiny tufts and fluff
On each top corner, draw a small feather tuft leaning out. Add 3 short wisps on top in the middle.
Tip Tufts are as tall as a thumb, with soft round tips, not needles.
Step 3: Two enormous eyes
Below the middle, draw 2 enormous circle eyes nearly touching, filling most of the face. Add black dots and shines.
Step 4: The beak
Under the gap between the eyes, draw a fat teardrop beak hanging point down, about half an eye tall.
Step 5: The face mask
Start left of the beak. Draw a big heart around both eyes, dipping between them. Stop right of the beak.
Step 6: The body
Start under each cheek. Curve down for a plump egg body, fattest low down, and meet at the bottom middle.
Step 7: Folded wings
On each side, draw a fat leaf wing from under the head down to the bottom. Add 3 feather lines.
Step 8: Fluffy tummy
Between the wings, draw rows of little U's like fish scales down the tummy: 3, then 2, then 3.
Step 9: The branch
Draw a branch under the tummy, from left to right with round ends. Add a twig and 2 bark lines.
Tip The branch ducks behind the tummy: no branch line through it.
Step 10: Two gripping feet
Under each eye, draw a foot from the tummy down onto the branch, with 3 round toes gripping the front.
Step 11: Yellow eyes, cream face
Go over your lines. Colour the eyes, beak and feet yellow. Colour the heart and tummy cream, around the eyes.
Step 12: Tan head, brown wings
Colour the head and tufts tan, around the face. Colour the wings and branch light brown, around the feet.
