How to Draw a Victoria Crowned Pigeon
Draw a Victoria crowned pigeon in 13 easy steps, about 10 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the head.
Step 1: The head
Near the top left draw a big round head, a little wider than tall, with a tiny chin bump.
Tip Leave room on the right and underneath for the body.
Step 2: Lacy fan crown
On top of the head draw a fan with 7 round bumps. Draw a line from the head to each dip.
Tip The lacy fan is this pigeon's signature.
Step 3: Small beak
From the front of the head draw a triangle beak out to the left and back. Add a mouth line.
Step 4: One big eye
In the middle of the head draw a big round eye with a black dot, leaving a white speck.
Step 5: Plump body
From the back of the head curve down to the rump, round a fat tummy, and up under the beak.
Tip The body is a plump egg, narrower than the head.
Step 6: Fan tail
From the rump draw a fan tail pointing down and back, round at the end, back to the tummy.
Step 7: Folded wing
From under the head draw a teardrop wing along the side, pointing at the tail. Add 2 short feather lines.
Step 8: Front leg and toes
Start on the tummy. Draw a short leg getting thinner, 3 thin toes, then come back up to the tummy.
Tip 2 toes point forward and 1 points back.
Step 9: Back leg and toes
Draw the other leg the same way, a hand further back under the tummy.
Tip Leave a gap so the feet do not touch.
Step 10: Ground and grass
Start at the left edge. Draw one long line under the toes across to the right edge. Add grass tufts.
Step 11: Blue head and crown
Colour the head, fan and back soft grey-blue, leaving the eye white. Colour the beak grey.
Step 12: Navy wing and tail
Colour the wing and the fan tail navy, pressing lightly so the feather lines show.
Step 13: Plum chest, red legs
Colour the chest and tummy deep plum purple, around the wing. Colour the legs and toes red.
