How to Draw a Baby Killer Whale
Draw a baby killer whale in 14 easy steps, about 11 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: round head.
Step 1: Round head
Draw a big round C for the head. Start at the top, curve round the blunt nose and stop underneath.
Tip A killer whale has a round blunt head, with no beak.
Step 2: Bright eye
Low on the front of the head draw a round eye. Fill it black and leave a white shine.
Step 3: Back and little fin
From the top of the head draw the back, up over a small rounded fin, then down to the tail.
Tip A calf's fin is small and round. It grows tall later.
Step 4: Tail fins
Start at the end of the back. Draw 2 matching round tail fins, like a bow. Stop just underneath.
Tip Make the 2 fins the same size.
Step 5: Round tummy
Start under the head. Draw 1 smooth round tummy, curving up to meet the tail.
Step 6: Long smile
Start on the tip of the nose. Draw a long smile under the eye, curling up at the end.
Step 7: Eye patch
Behind the eye, a little higher, draw a tilted oval patch.
Tip Leave a gap between the eye and the patch.
Step 8: Tummy line
Start on the smile. Draw a line along the side, a little above the tummy. Stop near the tail.
Tip Everything under this line stays pale.
Step 9: Flipper
Start on the tummy line below the patch. Draw a round paddle down and back, then up to the line.
Tip Rub out the lines inside the flipper.
Step 10: Saddle patch
Start on the back behind the fin. Draw a curve dipping down. Stop on the back near the tail.
Step 11: Waves and bubbles
Near the top draw a row of wave bumps right across the paper. Add 2 bubbles above the head.
Step 12: Blue sea
Colour all the water under the waves blue. Go around the whale and the bubbles.
Step 13: Cream and grey
Colour the chin, tummy and eye patch cream. Colour the saddle patch behind the fin grey.
Tip A calf's pale parts are creamy. They turn white as it grows.
Step 14: Black back
Colour the rest of the whale black: head, back, fin, tail and flipper. Leave the eye white.
