How to Draw an Orangutan
Draw an orangutan in 11 easy steps, about 8 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: big round head.
Step 1: Big round head
Near the top of your paper, draw a big round head, a little wider than tall.
Tip The head is half of the whole orangutan. Leave room below.
Step 2: Flat face and eyes
Inside the head, draw a wide flat face. Near its middle, draw 2 big eyes with black dots.
Step 3: Cheek pads
Start on the left of the face. Draw wide cheek pads past the head, under the chin, to the right.
Tip Rub out the head line inside the pads.
Step 4: Nose and smile
Colour 2 nostril dots under the eyes. Start under the left eye and draw a U smile to the right.
Step 5: Egg body and tummy
Start under each cheek pad. Draw a C down each side and join them at the bottom. Add a tummy.
Tip The body is narrower than the head, like an egg.
Step 6: Long right arm
Start under the head. Draw a shaggy arm down to a hand and back. Add a wrist and 3 fingers.
Step 7: Long left arm
Start under the head. Draw the other shaggy arm down to a hand and back, with a wrist and fingers.
Step 8: Two feet
Start under the body. Draw a short leg with a bun foot, back to the body. Do both sides.
Tip Add 2 toe lines on each foot.
Step 9: Hair tuft and ground
On top of the head, draw 3 soft hair wisps. Then draw a ground line under the feet and hands.
Step 10: Tan face and hands
Colour the face, cheek pads, tummy, hands and feet tan. Leave the eyes white.
Step 11: Orange fur
Colour the head, body, both arms and the tuft orange, going around the tan parts. Go over your lines.
