How to Draw an Optometrist
Draw an optometrist in 17 steps, about 13 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the head.
Step 1: The head
Near the top, left of the middle, draw an egg for the head, a little narrower at the chin.
Tip The eye chart hangs on the right, so keep the head left.
Step 2: Eyes and glasses
Across the middle draw 2 round glasses with a big dot in each. Add a bridge and 2 side arms.
Step 3: Nose, smile, brows
Under the bridge draw a tiny nose. Draw a smile below it, and an eyebrow over each glass.
Step 4: Bob hair
From the left jaw, draw a bob over the head, down to the right jaw, with a curved fringe.
Tip Rub out the head's lines under the hair.
Step 5: Neck and coat
Draw 2 neck lines. From the left one draw a long coat with round shoulders, ending at the right one.
Tip The coat hem is below the hips.
Step 6: Lapels and buttons
Slant lapels from the neck lines to a chest V, then a line down to the hem. Add 2 buttons.
Step 7: Long sleeves
From each shoulder draw a sleeve down to a cuff line. The left one hangs, the right one bends up.
Tip Rub out the coat's shoulder line inside each sleeve.
Step 8: Hands
Start and end on each cuff. Draw a round hand on the left and a fat fist on the right.
Step 9: The pointer
From inside the fist, draw a long thin stick slanting up to the right, its tip level with the chin.
Step 10: Eye chart
From the stick's tip draw a box with an E, shapes and lines, on a pole down to a foot.
Tip Make the chart tall, with the stick's tip touching its side.
Step 11: Glasses tray
On the left draw a flat tray. From its middle draw a leg down to a little foot.
Step 12: Spare glasses
On the tray draw 2 round glasses side by side, joined by a little bridge.
Step 13: Trousers
From the coat's hem draw 2 short trouser legs with a gap between them, ending in a flat bottom.
Step 14: Shoes and ground
Under each leg draw a round shoe, toes pointing out. Add a long ground line under everything.
Step 15: Peach skin, pink cheeks
Colour the cheeks pink, then the face, neck and hands peach around them. Leave the eyes white.
Step 16: Brown hair, wooden stand
Colour the hair brown, and the tray and pointer wood brown. Leave the chart and glasses white.
Step 17: Navy trousers, black shoes
Leave the coat white. Colour the trousers navy and the shoes black. Go over your lines and you're done!
