How to Draw a Gulab Jamun
Draw a gulab jamun in 12 easy steps, about 9 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the rim.
Step 1: The rim
A little above the middle draw a wide flat oval for the top of the bowl, about a hand wide.
Step 2: The bowl
Start at the left end of the oval. Draw a big U down and round, up to the right end.
Step 3: The foot
Under the bowl draw a short stand: start on the bottom left, go down, across, and up to the right.
Step 4: The syrup
Inside the rim draw a second flat oval, a finger inside it, for the top of the syrup.
Step 5: The front ball
In the middle of the syrup draw a round ball, a little bigger than a coin.
Tip Gulab jamun are soft round dumplings soaked in sweet syrup.
Step 6: Two more balls
Draw a ball peeking out behind it on the left and another on the right, both a touch smaller.
Step 7: Shines
On the upper left of each ball draw a small slanted oval for a shine.
Step 8: The stripe
Start on the left side of the bowl under the rim. Draw a smile curve across to the right side.
Step 9: The table
Draw a long straight table line under the foot, from left to right.
Step 10: Golden syrup
Go over your lines, then colour the syrup golden yellow, around the balls.
Step 11: Brown balls
Colour the 3 balls brown, around the shines. Leave the shines white.
Step 12: Blue bowl
Colour the rim down to the stripe light blue, around the syrup. Colour the bowl's bottom and foot blue.
