How to Draw a Duckling
Draw a duckling in 11 easy steps, about 8 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: big egg head.
Step 1: Big egg head
Near the top of your paper draw a big egg, fat side down. It is most of the duckling.
Tip Not a perfect circle. A little wobble is good.
Step 2: Curly tuft
Start on top of the head. Draw one tuft curling up and over, back down to the head.
Tip It curls to the right like a little wave. Round top, not a point.
Step 3: Two big eyes
On the middle of the head, draw 2 big eggy eyes, one eye apart. Colour a black dot in each.
Step 4: Flat bill
Under the eyes draw a wide flat bill, a smile from edge across to edge, and 2 cheeks beside it.
Step 5: Round tummy
Start under the left cheek. Draw a round tummy with 4 fluff bumps underneath, and stop under the right cheek.
Tip The tummy is narrower than the head, so the head stays biggest.
Step 6: Two plump wings
Start on the tummy under the head. Go halfway down, draw 3 bumps inward, and curve back to the start.
Step 7: Two short legs
Start under the tummy. Draw 2 short legs, wide at the top and thin at the bottom.
Step 8: Webbed feet
At the bottom of each leg, draw a wide webbed foot with 3 round toes.
Step 9: The ground
Draw a straight ground line under the feet, from a hand left of them to a hand right.
Step 10: Yellow duckling
Colour the wings pale yellow, pressing softly. Colour the head, tuft and tummy yellow, leaving the eyes white.
Step 11: Orange bill and feet
Colour the 2 cheeks pink, and the bill, legs and webbed feet orange.
