How to Draw an Olive Branch

11 steps · Medium · about 8 min

Draw an olive branch in 11 easy steps, about 8 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.

Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the branch.

Print

  1. Step 1: The branch

Start low on the left. Draw a long bowed branch up to the top right, getting thinner toward the tip.

  2. Step 2: First leaves

Near the bottom of the branch draw a long slim pointed leaf sticking out on each side.

Tip Olive leaves are long, narrow and pointed, and grow in pairs.

  3. Step 3: More pairs

A little further up draw another pair of slim leaves the same way, and another pair above that.

  4. Step 4: Pairs to the top

Keep going up the branch with 2 more pairs of slim leaves, each pair a little shorter.

  5. Step 5: Tip leaves

Near the tip draw 2 last small pairs of leaves.

  6. Step 6: Olive stalks

Under the branch, draw 4 tiny stalks hanging down in the gaps, each close to the leaf pair above it.

  7. Step 7: The olives

On the end of each stalk draw a fat little egg olive hanging in the gap, not touching the leaves.

  8. Step 8: Green leaves

Go over your lines, then colour the leaves on the upper side of the branch green.

  9. Step 9: More green leaves

Colour the leaves on the lower side green too.

  10. Step 10: Brown branch

    Colour the branch brown.

  11. Step 11: Purple olives

Colour the 4 olives purple, and your olive branch is done!
