How to Draw an Oil Lamp
Draw an oil lamp in 12 easy steps, about 9 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the glass chimney.
Step 1: The glass chimney
In the upper middle, draw a tall glass chimney: flat top, sides that swell out like a belly, flat bottom.
Tip The belly is the fattest part, a little wider than the top.
Step 2: The collar
Under the chimney, draw a short wide band, a little wider than the chimney bottom, for the metal collar.
Step 3: Two big eyes
On the chimney belly, draw 2 big egg eyes. Colour a big black dot in each, leaving a white shine.
Step 4: Smile and cheeks
Draw a small U smile under the eyes. Add a little oval cheek beside each end.
Step 5: The flame
Inside the chimney near the top, above the eyes, draw a little teardrop flame with its point up.
Step 6: The oil bowl
From the collar's left end, draw a wide round bowl swelling out and under, up to the right end.
Step 7: The wick knob
On the right, just under the collar, draw a short stub poking out with a little wheel on its end.
Step 8: The finger handle
Start behind the bowl's left side, draw a thick C loop out and back in, like a mug handle.
Step 9: The foot
From the bowl's bottom, draw a short stem down, flaring out into a flat foot. Close the bottom.
Step 10: Glow, sparkles and table
Draw 4 short glow lines out from the chimney, 3 sparkles, and a long table line under the foot.
Step 11: Yellow and pink
Colour the flame, collar, bowl, knob, handle and foot yellow, and the cheeks pink.
Step 12: Blue glass
Colour the chimney light blue around the flame and cheeks, leaving the eyes white.
