How to Draw a Heart

13 steps · Medium · about 10 min

Draw a heart in 13 easy steps, about 10 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.

Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the big heart.

Print

  1. Step 1: The big heart

Draw one big chunky heart in the middle of your paper: 2 fat humps on top, a soft point below.

  2. Step 2: Two big eyes

Below the widest part of each hump, draw a big egg eye. Add a black dot and shine in each.

  3. Step 3: Laughing mouth

Under the eyes, draw a mouth: a flat top, a deep U. Add a U tongue from side to side.

Tip The mouth is 2 eyes wide, and the tongue line curves like a smile.

  4. Step 4: Rosy cheeks

Draw a little oval cheek under the outside of each eye, beside the mouth corners.

  5. Step 5: Two mittens

Out from each side of the heart, level with the mouth, draw a round mitten with a thumb bump.

  6. Step 6: Two arms

From the heart's side, draw 2 lines down to each mitten. Stop on the mitten.

Tip Fat at the shoulder, thinner at the wrist.

  7. Step 7: Two plump legs

On each side of the point, draw a plump U leg that starts and stops on the heart.

Tip The legs hang from UNDER the heart, close together.

  8. Step 8: Two round shoes

Draw a round shoe over the bottom of each leg, toes pointing out and heels close together.

Tip Each shoe is a soft bun that swallows the bottom of the leg.

  9. Step 9: Two tiny hearts

Float a tiny heart out past each hump, with space all round it.

  10. Step 10: The ground

Draw one long straight ground line across the page, just under both shoes.

  11. Step 11: Yellow shoes, pink cheeks

Colour the shoes yellow. Colour the cheeks, the tongue and both tiny hearts pink.

  12. Step 12: Red heart

Colour the heart, arms, mittens and legs red, around the eyes, mouth and cheeks. Leave the eyes white.

Tip Leave a little white shine on the right hump.

  13. Step 13: Black mouth

Colour the inside of the mouth black, around the pink tongue.
