How to Draw an Ocean Drum
Draw an ocean drum in 13 easy steps, about 10 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the frame.
Step 1: The frame
In the middle of your paper draw a big tall oval, filling most of the page.
Tip An ocean drum has beads inside: tip it and they roll like waves.
Step 2: The skin
Inside the frame draw a second oval, a little smaller all the way round, for the drum skin.
Step 3: The drum's side
Start at the top of the frame. Curve round the right side, a finger out, and stop at the bottom.
Tip This moon shape is the deep wooden side, so your drum looks thick, not flat.
Step 4: Tacks
Along the middle of the side draw 6 little round tacks, spaced out from top to bottom.
Step 5: 2 big eyes
On the skin, above the middle, draw 2 big egg eyes. Colour a black dot in each, leaving a shine.
Step 6: Smile and cheeks
Under the eyes draw a U smile. Add a small oval cheek beside each end.
Step 7: The wave
Start on the left edge of the skin, below the middle. Draw a wavy line across to the right edge.
Step 8: Beads
Under the wave draw 4 little round beads in a row, then 3 more below, in the gaps.
Step 9: Ground
Draw a ground line touching the bottom of the drum, from left to right.
Step 10: Music notes
At each top corner draw a music note: an oval, a tall stem and a little flag.
Step 11: Pink cheeks, grey beads
Colour the cheeks pink and the beads grey.
Step 12: Cream skin, blue water
Colour the skin cream around the face, and the water sky blue around the beads. Leave the eyes white.
Step 13: Wood frame, black notes
Colour the tacks grey, then the frame and the side wood brown around them. Colour the notes black.
Tip Go over your lines to finish.
