How to Draw a Wooden Sign
Draw a wooden sign in 11 easy steps, about 8 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the board.
Step 1: The board
Above the middle of your paper draw a big wide board, as wide as your hand and half as tall.
Tip Let the corners wobble a tiny bit, like real wood.
Step 2: The post
Start under the board and draw 2 lines straight down, a finger apart. Stop near the bottom and join them.
Step 3: Two big eyes
Draw 2 big egg eyes on the board. Add a black dot and a shine in each.
Step 4: Smile and cheeks
Under the eyes draw a wide U smile. Add a small oval cheek beside each end.
Step 5: Four nails
Put a small black dot in each corner of the board, a finger in from the edges.
Step 6: Wood grain
At each end of the board draw 2 short wavy lines, one above the other.
Step 7: Ground and grass
Draw the ground line edge to edge under the post. Add 3 grass tufts with 3 soft blades each.
Step 8: A little tulip
Far left, start on the ground, draw a stem up and stop at a 3-point tulip cup. Add a leaf.
Step 9: Pink cheeks
Colour the cheeks pink.
Step 10: Green grass, pink flower
Colour the grass tufts and the leaf green and the tulip pink.
Step 11: Wood board, brown post
Colour the board wood brown around the pink cheeks, leaving the eyes white. Colour the post dark brown.
Tip Go over your lines, and your wooden sign is ready!
