How to Draw an Oak Tree
Draw an oak tree in 11 easy steps, about 8 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the leafy top.
Step 1: The leafy top
Start on the left, above the middle. Draw a long rainbow of big soft bumps and stop on the right.
Tip Make it very wide: an oak is a big fat tree.
Step 2: Bumps underneath
Start where the rainbow ended. Draw 6 shallow bumps hanging down and across, until you meet the other end.
Step 3: The trunk
Start under the leaves, left of the middle. Draw a post down to a root at the bottom. Same right.
Step 4: Two branches
Start on the bottom of the leaves, left of the middle. Draw a skinny V into the trunk and up.
Step 5: Knot hole
Low on the trunk draw a small egg for a knot hole, with a curve hugging its right side.
Step 6: Leafy hills
Start on the left side of the leafy top, halfway up. Draw hill bumps down to the middle. Same right.
Step 7: Acorns
Hang 5 acorns up: a little cap, then start at its left end, draw a nut, stop at the right.
Step 8: Ground and grass
Draw a long ground line under the trunk, from well left to well right. Add grass blades beside the trunk.
Step 9: Wood trunk
Colour the trunk and both branches wood brown, leaving the V empty. Colour the knot hole darker brown.
Step 10: Tan acorns
Colour the acorn nuts tan and their caps brown.
Step 11: Green leaves
Colour the leafy top green, around the acorns. Go over your lines and your oak tree is done!
