How to Draw a Jade Plant
Draw a jade plant in 12 easy steps, about 9 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the pot rim.
Step 1: The pot rim
Low on your paper draw a wide flat box for a pot rim, a hand wide and a finger tall.
Step 2: The pot
Start under the rim near the left end. Draw a side down, across the bottom, and up to the rim.
Step 3: The thick trunk
From the rim draw 2 lines up for a short thick trunk, stopping two fingers above the rim.
Step 4: A left branch
From the top of the left trunk line, draw a branch out left and back in to a round dip.
Step 5: Middle and right branches
From the dip draw a branch up and back down, then one out right and back to the trunk.
Step 6: Leaves on the left
Over the left branch tip draw a bunch of 6 fat oval leaves, and 2 more partway along it.
Step 7: Leaves in the middle
Draw the same bunch of 6 fat oval leaves over the middle branch tip, and 2 more partway down.
Step 8: Leaves on the right
And 6 more over the right branch tip, with 2 partway along, so every branch is full of leaves.
Step 9: The table
Draw a long straight line along the bottom of the pot, from well left to well right, for the table.
Step 10: Ginger pot
Go over your lines. Colour the pot and its rim ginger brown.
Step 11: Green leaves
Colour all the fat oval leaves leaf green.
Step 12: Brown trunk
Colour the trunk and branches brown, up to the leaves, and your jade plant is done!
