How to Draw a Christmas Palm Tree

Draw a Christmas palm tree in 13 easy steps, about 10 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.

Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: tall trunk.

Step 1: Tall trunk
In the middle, draw a tall trunk from the ground up to a round top. Make the bottom wider.
Tip Let the trunk bend a tiny bit, like a real palm.
Step 2: Top fronds
From the top of the trunk, draw 2 long pointed leaves arching up and out, one each side.
Tip Each leaf is thin at the trunk, fat in the middle and pointy at the tip.
Step 3: Middle fronds
Under them, draw 2 more long leaves arching out sideways and drooping at their pointy tips.
Step 4: Low fronds
Draw the last 2 leaves drooping down beside the trunk. Now 6 fronds fan out.
Tip The low leaves hang almost straight down.
Step 5: Midribs
Inside each frond, draw a curved line from the trunk to just short of the tip.
Step 6: Star on top
On the very top of the trunk, draw a big star with 5 points.
Tip The star's 2 bottom points stand on the trunk like legs.
Step 7: String of lights
Start on the left edge of the trunk. Draw 4 slanted lines across it, each stopping on the right edge.
Step 8: Little bulbs
Hang 2 small oval bulbs under each slanted line.
Tip Each bulb touches its line.
Step 9: Hanging baubles
From the tip of each middle and low frond, draw a short string with a round bauble.
Tip Keep all 4 baubles the same size.
Step 10: Ground line
Start left of the trunk. Draw a flat ground line under it and stop on the right.
Step 11: Star and lights
Colour the star yellow. Colour 3 bulbs red and 3 bulbs yellow. Leave 2 white.
Step 12: Blue and brown
Colour the last 2 bulbs blue. Then colour the trunk brown, around all the bulbs.
Step 13: Green and red
Colour all 6 fronds green and the 4 baubles red. Your Christmas palm tree is done!
