How to Draw an Oak Leaf
Draw an oak leaf in 10 easy steps, about 8 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the right side.
Step 1: The right side
Start low, left of the middle. Draw 4 round bumps with deep notches, leaning up right. Stop at the tip.
Tip Oak leaf bumps are round like fingers.
Step 2: The left side
Start at the tip. Come back down the other side with 4 more round bumps. End where you first started.
Step 3: The stem
From the leaf's bottom point, draw a thin stem going down left. Make it thinner at the end.
Step 4: The middle vein
Start where the stem joins the leaf. Draw a straight vein up the middle and stop short of the tip.
Step 5: Side veins
From the middle vein draw a short vein into each big bump, 3 on each side. Stop before the edge.
Step 6: An acorn cap
Low on the left draw a little upside-down bowl for the acorn cap. Add 3 short lines on it.
Step 7: The acorn
Start at the left end of the cap. Curve down round the bottom and up to the right end.
Step 8: Ground and grass
Draw a straight ground line along the bottom, under the acorn and stem. Add 2 little W grass tufts.
Step 9: Green leaf
Go over your lines, then colour the oak leaf green.
Step 10: Brown stem and acorn
Colour the stem and the acorn cap brown, and the nut tan.
