How to Draw a Yucca
Draw a yucca in 12 easy steps, about 9 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: tall stalk.
Step 1: Tall stalk
Start at the bottom middle. Draw a very tall thin stalk of 2 lines, a little thinner at the top.
Step 2: First sword leaves
From the bottom of the stalk draw a long pointed leaf up each side, like 2 swords.
Tip Yucca leaves are stiff and straight, with a sharp point.
Step 3: More sword leaves
Draw 2 more sword leaves leaning further out, tucked behind the first pair.
Tip Make these a little longer than the first pair.
Step 4: Low leaves
Draw 2 more pairs lower down, the last pair nearly flat along the ground.
Step 5: Bottom bells
Above the leaves hang a bell from a short hanger each side, with 3 pointed tips and 2 petal lines.
Tip The bells hang upside down, like little tulips.
Step 6: Middle bells
Higher up the stalk hang 2 more bells the same way, a little smaller.
Tip Leave a gap under each bell so they do not bump.
Step 7: Top bells
Near the top hang the 2 smallest bells.
Step 8: Buds
On the tip draw a pointed bud standing up, and a small bud leaning out on each side below it.
Step 9: The ground
Start near the left edge. Draw a soft ground line under the plant and stop near the right edge.
Step 10: Cream bells
Go over your lines. Colour all 6 bells and the 3 buds a pale cream.
Tip Yucca flowers are creamy white, so press lightly.
Step 11: Light green stalk
Colour the tall stalk light green.
Step 12: Dark green leaves
Colour all 8 sword leaves dark green. Your yucca is done!
