How to Draw a North Carolina Map
Draw a north carolina map in 12 easy steps, about 9 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the top edge.
Step 1: The top edge
Start above the middle, a little in from the left. Draw a long straight line right. Stop near the edge.
Tip North Carolina is a long, thin state. Keep your shape low and wide.
Step 2: The first cape
Carry on from the right end. Curve down, bowing out to the right. Stop at a point.
Tip A cape is a point of land that pokes out into the sea.
Step 3: The second cape
Start at that point. Draw a line slanting down to the left. Stop at another point.
Step 4: The third cape
From that point, draw a dip like a hanging rope to a third point. Go left a little and stop.
Step 5: The bottom edge
Carry on from there. Slant up to the left, go straight left, then add a small step up.
Step 6: The long tail
Carry on from the step. Go straight left, dip down a little, go left again and stop at a point.
Step 7: The mountain side
From that point, draw a bumpy line slanting up to the right. Join the start of your top line.
Tip The bumps are where the mountains are.
Step 8: The mountains
Inside the tail, draw 3 little triangle mountains in a row, each one a bit higher up.
Step 9: The capital star
A little right of the middle, draw a star for the capital city, Raleigh.
Step 10: Green land
Go over your lines. Colour all the land green, around the mountains and the star.
Step 11: Brown mountains
Colour the 3 mountains brown.
Step 12: Red star
Colour the star red. Your map of North Carolina is done!

Your finished drawing
