How to Draw a Kentucky Map
Draw a kentucky map in 13 easy steps, about 10 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the bottom left.
Step 1: The bottom left
Start low on the left. Draw a short straight line right. Stop and add a tiny step up.
Tip Kentucky is a long, low state. Leave room above this line.
Step 2: The long bottom
Carry on from the step. Draw a long straight line to the right. Stop past the middle.
Step 3: The mountain side
Carry on from there. Draw a gently bumpy line slanting up to the right. Stop at a point.
Tip Mountains make this slanting edge.
Step 4: The right end
From that point, wiggle a line up, leaning left. Stop when it is a bit shorter than the slanting line.
Step 5: The top right
Carry on from there. Wiggle a line to the left, then climb up to a flat top. Stop there.
Tip All of this wiggly top edge is one big river, the Ohio.
Step 6: Down the river
Carry on from the flat top. Drop down, then wiggle a line slanting down to the left.
Step 7: More river
Carry on from there. Draw a long wiggly line to the left, going gently down. Stop at a small corner.
Step 8: The river bends
Carry on from the corner. Wiggle a line down to the left. Stop above your very first line.
Step 9: Close the map
Carry on from there. Draw a short line down, leaning left. Join the start of your first line.
Tip This short end is another huge river, the Mississippi.
Step 10: The capital star
Right of the middle, near the top edge, draw a star for the capital city, Frankfort.
Step 11: Two mountains
Along the slanting edge, draw 2 little triangle mountains, the right one a bit higher.
Tip On a map, little triangles show where the mountains are.
Step 12: Green land
Go over your lines. Colour all the land green, around the star and the 2 mountains.
Step 13: Brown and red
Colour the 2 mountains brown and the star red. Your map of Kentucky is done!
