How to Draw a News Anchor

13 steps · Tricky · about 10 min

Draw a news anchor in 13 steps, about 10 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.

Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the head.

Print

  1. Step 1: The head

Near the top of your paper draw an egg for the head, a little narrower at the chin.

Tip Leave most of the page below for the body and desk.

  2. Step 2: The face

Below the middle of the head draw 2 oval eyes, a tiny U nose, a smile and 2 eyebrows.

  3. Step 3: Bob hair

From the left jaw draw a bob over the head to the right jaw. Add a fringe above the eyebrows.

Tip Rub out the head line inside the hair.

  4. Step 4: Neck and blazer

Draw a neck. From the left neck line draw the blazer round to the right one. Add a V collar.

  5. Step 5: Long sleeves

From the left sleeve draw an arm bent across the tummy, stopping at the wrist. The right arm hangs down.

Tip Rub out the short sleeve ends and the blazer line inside the bent arm.

  6. Step 6: Hands

On the left wrist draw a round fist with a thumb on top. On the right draw a hanging hand.

  7. Step 7: Sheet of news

In the left fist draw a sheet of paper standing up: a tall box with 3 short lines across it.

  8. Step 8: News desk and ground

In front draw a long desk at tummy height. From its ends draw 2 sides down to a ground line.

Tip The desk hides everything below the blazer: no legs to draw.

  9. Step 9: Microphone

From a flat base on the desk draw a thin stand up to a round microphone head.

  10. Step 10: Screen

Up on the right draw a big square screen with a globe inside: a circle, a line and an oval.

  11. Step 11: Peach skin, pink cheeks

Colour the face, neck and hands peach, with a pink circle on each cheek.

    Tip Leave the eyes white.

  12. Step 12: Red blazer, white top

Colour the blazer and sleeves red. Leave the top under the collar and the news sheet white.

  13. Step 13: Blue screen, brown desk

Colour the screen blue around the globe, the hair and desk brown, the microphone black. Your news anchor is done!
