How to Draw a Librarian
Draw a librarian in 18 steps, about 14 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the head.
Step 1: The head
Near the top, a little left of the middle, draw an egg for the head, narrower at the chin.
Tip The book cart will stand on the right.
Step 2: Eyes and glasses
Below the head's middle, draw 2 round glasses with a dot in each. Add a bridge and 2 side arms.
Step 3: Nose and smile
Under the bridge, draw a tiny U nose. Below it, draw a smile from under one glass to the other.
Step 4: Hair, fringe and bun
Start on the head's left, by the glasses. Draw hair over the top, down to the right. Add a bun.
Step 5: Neck and cardigan
Draw 2 short neck lines. From the left one, draw a cardigan with round shoulders, stopping at the right one.
Step 6: Long skirt
From the cardigan's bottom left, draw a long skirt out to a wide hem, then back up to the right.
Step 7: Sleeves and hands
From each shoulder, draw a long sleeve down, stopping at the wrist. Add a round hand with a thumb bump.
Tip The right arm reaches out a little: that hand will hold the cart handle.
Step 8: Legs and shoes
Start on the hem, draw 2 short legs, stopping a finger below it. Add a shoe under each, toes out.
Step 9: The ground
Draw a long ground line under the shoes, from near the left edge to near the right edge.
Step 10: The cart
Draw a wide box beside her, above the ground. Add a middle shelf from one side over to the other.
Step 11: Wheels and handle
Add 2 wheels on the ground under the cart. Draw a handle from its top corner up into her fist.
Tip The handle passes behind her hand so her fist is closed round it.
Step 12: Books
On the cart top, draw 4 standing books, different heights, each with a spine line. Add 2 flat books below.
Step 13: Peach skin, pink cheeks
Colour the face, neck, hands and legs peach, and the cheeks pink. Leave the eyes white.
Step 14: Mustard cardigan
Colour the cardigan and its sleeves mustard yellow.
Step 15: Red and blue books
Colour the standing books red and sky blue, taking turns, and the two flat books the same.
Step 16: Grey cart
Colour the cart, handle and wheels grey, going around the books.
Step 17: Brown hair and shoes
Colour the hair, bun and shoes brown.
Step 18: Navy skirt
Colour the skirt navy. Go over your lines and you're done!
