How to Draw a Nautical Star
Draw a nautical star in 10 easy steps, about 8 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: top and arms.
Step 1: Top and arms
Start left of the middle. Zigzag out to an arm, up to a tall top, then down the other side.
Tip Make the points long and thin, with deep dips between them.
Step 2: Bottom points
From under each arm, draw a long point down and back up to meet in the middle.
Step 3: Middle line
Start at the top point. Draw a straight line down and stop at the dip between the 2 bottom points.
Tip Use a ruler if you like. The line cuts the top point in half.
Step 4: Arm lines
Start at each arm tip. Draw a line across the middle and stop at the dip on the far side.
Step 5: Leg lines
Start at each bottom point. Draw a line up through the middle and stop at the dip beside the top.
Tip All 5 lines cross at one spot in the very middle.
Step 6: Sparkles on the left
On the left of the star draw 2 sparkle stars, one higher and one lower.
Step 7: Sparkles on the right
Draw 2 more sparkle stars on the right to match.
Step 8: Yellow sparkles
Go over your lines. Colour the 4 sparkles yellow.
Step 9: Light halves
Colour the left half of the top point light blue. Go round and colour every other triangle to match.
Tip That makes 5 light triangles, one on each point.
Step 10: Dark halves
Colour the 5 triangles in between navy blue. Your nautical star is done!

Your finished drawing
Follow the steps above and this is where you end up: a nautical star, drawn by you.
