How to Draw an Indiana Map
Draw an indiana map in 12 easy steps, about 9 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the top edge.
Step 1: The top edge
Start near the top, just left of the middle. Draw a straight line to the right. Stop before the edge.
Tip Indiana is a tall state. This line is its flat top.
Step 2: The right side
Carry on from the right end. Draw a long straight line down. Stop well before the bottom.
Step 3: The river bank
Carry on from there with a wavy line slanting down and left. Stop under the middle of the top line.
Tip The bottom of Indiana is a big wavy river.
Step 4: More river bank
Carry on from there with more waves to the left. Stop at a point, further left than the top line.
Step 5: Up the river
From that point, draw a wiggly line up, leaning to the right. Stop about a third of the way up.
Step 6: The left side
Carry on from there. Draw a long straight line up. Stop just below the top line.
Step 7: The lake corner
Start at the top of the left side. Draw a short dip, like a smile, to join the top line.
Step 8: The big lake
From each end of the dip, draw a line up to the top of your paper, leaning outwards.
Tip A huge lake, Lake Michigan, touches this corner of Indiana.
Step 9: The capital star
In the middle of the state, draw a star for the capital city, Indianapolis.
Step 10: Blue lake
Go over your lines. Colour the lake light blue, up to the top of the paper.
Step 11: Green land
Colour all of the land green, around the star.
Step 12: Red star
Colour the star red. Your map of Indiana is done!
