How to Draw a Movie Theater
Draw a movie theater in 12 easy steps, about 9 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the big box.
Step 1: The big box
In the middle of your paper draw a big wide box for the theater, with a flat top and bottom.
Step 2: The roof ledge
On top of the box draw a thin flat ledge that sticks out a little past each side.
Step 3: The marquee
Below the roof draw the marquee: a long flat box as tall as your thumb, sticking out past both walls.
Tip The marquee is the big lit-up sign that says what's showing.
Step 4: The word MOVIES
Write MOVIES in big capital letters across the marquee, nearly as tall as the marquee.
Step 5: Stars and lights
Draw a star at each end of the marquee, and a row of little round lights along under it.
Step 6: The doors
At the bottom middle draw wide doors: up, across, down to the bottom line. Add a line down the middle.
Step 7: Two posters
On each side of the doors draw a tall standing box for a poster. Put a big star in each.
Step 8: Step and ground
Start left of the doors. Draw a low step up, across and down to the bottom line. Add the ground.
Step 9: Popcorn
On the ground at the left draw a popcorn box: a cup with 2 lines and fluffy bumps on top.
Step 10: Yellow stars, cream walls
Colour the stars, lights and popcorn yellow. Colour the walls cream, going around the doors and posters.
Step 11: Sky posters, red marquee
Colour the posters sky blue and the marquee red, going around the stars. Colour 2 popcorn stripes red.
Step 12: Grey roof, navy doors
Colour the roof ledge and step slate grey and the doors navy. Go over your lines and you're done!

Your finished drawing
Follow the steps above and this is where you end up: a movie theater, drawn by you.
