How to Draw a Mouse Trap

10 steps · Medium · about 8 min

Draw a mouse trap in 10 easy steps, about 8 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.

Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the plank.

Print

  1. Step 1: The plank

Below the middle of your paper draw a long low rectangle for the front of the wooden plank.

Tip It is very flat, like a ruler lying down.

  2. Step 2: The plank top

Start at the top left corner. Slant up, go along, slant down to the right corner. Add a thin end.

  3. Step 3: The spring

Halfway along, draw a slanting rod from front up to back. Add a fat coil with 3 lines.

  4. Step 4: The wire bar

Start at the rod's front end. Draw a long sideways U to the left, ending at its back end.

  5. Step 5: Catch plate and arm

Draw a small plate on the right end. Add a thin arm from the bar, past the coil, to it.

  6. Step 6: A cheese wedge

On the catch plate draw a tall triangle cheese wedge standing up, flat along the bottom.

Tip Rub out the plank's back line inside the cheese.

  7. Step 7: Holes and sparkles

Dot 2 holes in the cheese. Draw a ground line under the plank from edge to edge. Add 2 sparkles.

  8. Step 8: Yellow cheese, grey spring

Colour the cheese and sparkles yellow, leaving the holes white, and the spring coil grey.

  9. Step 9: Red catch plate

    Colour the catch plate red.

  10. Step 10: Wood plank

Colour the plank wood brown, around the coil, plate and cheese. Careful, your mouse trap is set!
