How to Draw Moss
Draw moss in 12 easy steps, about 9 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the rock.
Step 1: The rock
In the middle draw a big round rock with a flat bottom. Give its top soft round bumps.
Tip Keep the bumps round and soft, like a cushion: that is the moss.
Step 2: Two big eyes
Below the middle of the rock draw 2 big egg eyes. Colour a black dot in each, with a shine.
Step 3: A big smile
A little below the eyes draw a wide U smile from under one eye across to the other.
Step 4: The moss blanket
Start on the rock's left side, above the eyes. Draw a bumpy line of hills across, stopping on the right.
Tip Everything above this line is moss: small round bumps, never pointy.
Step 5: Two mushrooms
On the moss draw 2 little mushrooms, each a short stem with a round cap, like a tiny umbrella.
Step 6: Cracks
Draw 2 short crooked cracks on the bare part of the rock, one on each side.
Step 7: The ground
Draw a ground line from edge to edge along the rock's flat bottom. Add a grass tuft on the right.
Step 8: A snail shell
Left of the rock, on the ground, draw a round snail shell with a small circle inside for its swirl.
Step 9: The snail's body
Draw its body from under the shell out to a round head, with a dot eye and 2 feelers.
Step 10: Cheeks and snail
Colour pink cheeks under the eyes and the snail's body cream.
Step 11: Grey rock
Colour the rock grey around the eyes, cheeks and moss, and the snail shell tan. Leave the eyes white.
Step 12: Green moss, red caps
Colour the moss green and the mushroom caps red. Go over your lines and you're done!
