How to Draw a Fallow Deer
Draw a fallow deer in 12 steps, about 9 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the head.
Step 1: The head
Near the top left, draw a big round head, a little wider than tall. Leave room on the right.
Step 2: Eyes and nose
Draw 2 big oval eyes and a small triangle nose. From the nose, draw down to a w smile.
Step 3: Antlers and ears
On each top corner, draw a stalk opening into a flat paddle with 4 bumps. Add a leaf ear below.
Tip Fallow deer antlers are flat paddles with finger bumps along the top.
Step 4: The neck
From behind the head, slope the neck's back down right. From the chin, draw its front down to the chest.
Tip The neck grows out from behind the head and gets wider toward the body.
Step 5: The body
From the neck, draw a big soft bean body: a long back, a round bottom, a tummy and a chest.
Step 6: Two legs
Draw a ground line. Add a leg under the chest and one under the bottom, each thinner to a hoof.
Tip A hoof is like a little doorstop, flat on the ground.
Step 7: The far legs
Draw 2 more legs peeking out from behind the first ones, set a little apart. Each stops at a hoof.
Step 8: The tail
On the top corner of the bottom, draw a little leaf tail pointing up and back, like a small flag.
Step 9: Spots
Draw 5 big oval spots on the back in 2 loose rows, 3 on top and 2 below.
Tip Spots are what make it a fallow deer: keep them big and simple.
Step 10: Peach ear insides
Go over your lines. Colour the insides of the ears peach.
Step 11: Colour it tan
Colour the deer tan, around the peach ears and the spots. Leave the eyes and spots white.
Step 12: Brown antlers, black hooves
Colour the antlers brown and the hooves black. Your fallow deer is done!
