How to Draw a Deer Eating Grass
Draw a deer eating grass in 14 easy steps, about 11 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the head.
Step 1: The head
Low on the left draw a tilted egg for the head: round cheek at the top, small nose end below.
Tip The nose points down to the ground. Leave lots of room on the right.
Step 2: Eye and nose
Draw 1 big eye with a black dot and a shine. Add a black nose tip and a smile.
Step 3: Leaf ear
On the back of the head draw a pointed leaf ear leaning back, with a smaller leaf inside it.
Step 4: Two antlers
On top of the head draw 2 antlers in a V. Each is a stalk with 2 outer twigs.
Tip Give every tip a round end. The far antler is a little smaller.
Step 5: Sloping neck
From behind the ear draw a line up to the right. From under the cheek draw another, stopping lower.
Tip The neck gets wider as it climbs to the shoulders.
Step 6: Back and bottom
Carry on from the top neck line. Draw a long back, curl round the bottom and stop.
Tip The back is highest at the shoulders and almost flat.
Step 7: Front leg
Draw a ground line. From the chest draw a slim leg down to a hoof, then back up.
Tip The leg gets thinner lower down. The hoof is a little block with a line across its top.
Step 8: Tummy and back leg
From the front leg draw the tummy. Then a round thigh down to a hoof and up to the bottom.
Tip The back leg is wide at the top and bends halfway down.
Step 9: Far legs
Behind each leg draw another slim leg peeking out, with its hoof on the ground.
Tip Now you can count 4 legs.
Step 10: Tail and spots
On top of the bottom draw a short leaf tail pointing up. Draw 4 oval spots on the back.
Step 11: Grass
Under the nose draw a tuft of 4 pointed grass blades growing up from the ground.
Step 12: Tail and ear
Go over your lines. Colour the tail cream and the inside of the ear peach.
Tip Leave the eye and the spots white.
Step 13: Ginger and green
Colour the head, ear, neck, body and legs ginger, around the white spots. Colour the grass green.
Step 14: Antlers and hooves
Colour the 2 antlers brown and the 4 hooves dark grey. Your deer is done!
