How to Draw Monsoon Rain
Draw monsoon rain in 16 steps, about 12 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the big cloud.
Step 1: The big cloud
Across the top of your paper draw a big puffy cloud: bumps over the top and a bumpy line underneath.
Step 2: Sheets of rain
Under the cloud draw 7 long slanting rain lines pouring down across the paper.
Tip Monsoon rain is the heaviest rain of the year. Kids love splashing!
Step 3: The ground
Draw the ground line across the paper near the bottom.
Step 4: First kid's head
On the left, above the ground, draw a round head with a cap of hair on top.
Step 5: Coat and arms
Under the head draw a soft coat. Add one arm hanging down and one bent up, each with a hand.
Step 6: Legs and shoes
Under the coat draw 2 legs, a little thinner at the bottom, down to 2 shoes on the ground.
Step 7: The umbrella
Over the kid draw a wide dome with little arches underneath. Draw a pole from its middle into the hand.
Step 8: A kid splashing
On the right draw a second kid: a head with hair, a shirt and 2 arms reaching up.
Step 9: Legs in a puddle
Draw 2 legs down to 2 shoes. Round the shoes draw a flat oval puddle.
Step 10: Faces
Give each kid 2 round eyes with a dot and a shine, and a little smile.
Step 11: Splashes and more rain
At each end of the puddle draw 3 little drops flying out. Add 4 more rain lines at the sides.
Step 12: Peach skin
Colour the faces and hands peach. Leave the eyes white.
Step 13: Yellow coat, blue puddle
Colour the first kid's coat yellow, and the puddle and the drops blue.
Step 14: Red umbrella and shirt
Colour the umbrella and the second kid's shirt red.
Step 15: Navy and dark grey
Colour the trousers navy, and the shoes and the big cloud dark grey.
Step 16: Hair
Colour the hair black and brown. Go over your lines and your monsoon rain is done!
